The Ephemeral Gallery is pleased to showcase a selection of sculpture by Stephen Hicklin illustrating the diversity and process with in his work.

Over the past forty years he has established himself in the field of contemporary portrait sculpture. His work ranges from private commissions to larger public as well as commercial projects. He is a member of The Society of Portrait Sculptors.

His technique combines a fast and gestural style with at times a more refined and considered approach:

“The essential part of a portrait occurs almost instantaneously. Like graffiti, it should have a spontaneity”.

Stephen Hicklin trained at The Central School of Art and Design in London. Along side his sculpture practice he has taught and lectured extensively in London art schools. His studios are in London and Suffolk where he continues to produce commissioned and site specific work.
